Join us for a new year of Breakfast Clubs!  Maura Fleming, the Capital Region Program Manager at the Alzheimer’s Association of Northeastern New York will be speaking about healthier living for your brain and body.
For centuries, we’ve known that the health of the brain and the body are connected. But now, science is able to provide insights into how to optimize our physical and cognitive health as we age. This program offers participants an opportunity to learn about research in the areas of diet and nutrition, exercise, cognitive activity and social engagement, and use hands-on tools to help you incorporate these recommendations into a plan for healthy aging.

The August NNORC Breakfast Club welcomes special guest, Congressman Paul Tonko. He is our local expert on state and federal issues and politics. He will share what is going on in Washington, as well as listen to the concerns of his constituents.
Congressman Tonko has represented our area in the House of Representatives since 2009. He serves on the Energy & Commerce Committee, and the Science, Space & Technology Committee. Throughout his career, he has been a champion for the working class, advancing policies that create jobs, provide economic opportunities and ensure senior citizens can retire with dignity.
NOTE:  We have a very limited number of Senior Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program check booklets remaining and will be distributing them at this August Breakfast Club.

The August NNORC Breakfast Club welcomes special guest: Congressman Paul Tonko. Congressman Tonko is serving his fourth term in the US House of Representatives after a long and illustrious career in the NYS Assembly and as CEO of the NYS Energy Research and Development Authority. He is keenly interested in sharing his perspectives on what’s going on in Washington and hearing the concerns of his constituents. This will be an active and engaging breakfast program.
Throughout his career, Congressman Tonko has been a champion for the working class, advancing policies that create jobs, provide economic opportunity and ensure senior citizens can retire with dignity. He believes in the power of America’s middle class and fights to ensure the American Dream stays within reach for all who work hard and play by the rules.
In the House of Representatives, Congressman Tonko serves on the Committee on Energy and Commerce. Since 2013, he has served as the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Environment and Economy. He also serves several subcommittees including Energy and Power, Oversight and Investigations and Research and Technology.

Reiki (pronounced: Ray- Key) is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. The June Breakfast Club features Dolly Magarik, a self-proclaimed energy junkie, who will teach you what Reiki is all about, as well as share her personal story of coming to appreciate the practice. Who knows, you may even receive a bit of the healing energy!
