Kyra Alte, LMSW

NNORC Director

Kyra joined the JFS team after interning with the Albany NNORC Program as part of their geriatric specialization in their Master of Social Work program through the Internships in Aging Project (IAP) at the University of Albany. Before starting their social work career, Kyra worked as a paralegal protecting tenants’ rights and as an office administrator for various nonprofits.

Kyra served as the JFS Geriatric Social Work Care Manager for two years upon completion of their MSW, during which time they earned both their NY State social work license and a certification in home safety assessments. As a JFS care manager, Kyra provided home visits to low-income older adults in the City of Albany, built community partnerships to support this population, facilitated support groups and individual counseling, and advocated at all levels for clients’ needs.

In the spring of 2025, Kyra stepped into their current role as NNORC Director, where they supervise the NNORC staff, NNORC’s MSW student intern, NNORC priority services (including care management and health education), and NNORC programming. Kyra loves working with older adults, and is passionate about empowering and supporting their right to age in place in their community. Outside of work, Kyra is involved with various community organizations, enjoys hiking with their dog, and loves to cook with their spouse.
